Hari's Hot Oats

Good morning in Paradise🌴🌴🌴🌴

After an early morning power walk on the beach or a yoga session on our yoga Shala a bowl of oatmeal is like gold in the stomach.

There are millions way of doing it but here are our favourite recipes using things that is available in our surrounding in Kovalam. So where ever you live in the world you can use whatever is available in the store ore in your garden, try to think climate smart and use your fantasy.

Hari likes it hot and I like it cold:

Haris Hot Oats:

1 portion

1 dl organic oat flakes

2 dl water

1 pinch of salt

1 pinch of turmeric

2-4 whole green cardamoms capsules

1 spoon flaxseeds

4-6 cashew nuts

1 big spoon of small pieces of dry coconut

1 spoon of honey

🌴Cook everything on a low temperature, stirring all the time.

Add a spoon of ghee if you dosha dominance is Vata.

🌴Serve it in a bowl topped with pomegranate seeds and some grated coconut.


Christines Overnight Oats:

1 portion

1 dl organic oat flakes

1 red banana (love red bananas, typical for south India) sweeter than yellow bananas

1 pinch of turmeric

1 pinch of green cardamum powder

1 pinch of dry ginger powder

1 pinch of cinnamon powder

1 spoon of flaxseed 

2 dl of water( almond milk etc, not so common here so I use water it’s good enough)

Add honey if you want more sweetness 

🌴Mash the banana with a fork and add the rest of the ingredients in a bowl, cover and put in the fridge during the night

🌴Serve with pieces of mango and grated coconuts
